The holiday park industry has made the headlines recently, but for all the wrong reasons…
The Holiday Park Action Group (HPAG), representing around 1,200 UK holiday homeowners, has launched legal action over pressure sales, misinformation around depreciation, and rising concerns that profits are being placed above people.
Truthfully, we’re upset, horrified, and deeply disappointed to hear the way some companies are treating individuals and families looking for what should be a happy investment in their future. It’s not only wrong, but it’s also completely out of step with what holiday home ownership should be about: connection, calm, and community.
At Williams Leisure, we can’t speak for others in the industry, but we can speak for ourselves. And we’re proud that since 1999 our business has been built on people, purpose, and passion.
To help set the record straight, we wanted to answer some of the most common questions we’ve been hearing and share what you can expect from us.
No! Not even close.
We know it’s easy to paint the whole industry with the same brush, but the reality is that there are good people out there who are doing things the right way. With honesty, care, and commitment at the forefront.
For more than 25 years, we’ve remained a family-run business, with everything we do rooted in people, not profits. We choose quality over quantity, connection over sales, and long-lasting relationships over quick wins.
Absolutely not.
We pride ourselves on offering clear, honest, and transparent communication at every stage – from initial browsing to aftersales.
There’s no hidden costs or curfews, and we pride ourselves on our competitive site fees.
Our expert team is always available at the end of the phone or via email, and would be delighted to show you around our parks. But rest assured, you will never experience high-pressure tactics or be forced to make a rushed decision.
We’ll give you all the information, answer your questions, and let you decide in your own time. You’re always welcome to go home and think about it, or even to walk away if it doesn’t feel right. Because buying a holiday home is a huge decision – for you and your family – and we totally respect that.
We’re always honest and upfront about the realities of owning a holiday home. We will talk you through it all, clearly and openly – from costs and resale to what’s included in your agreement. And all of our brand-new holiday homes come with a minimum 15-year licence, giving you peace of mind from day one.
Like most lifestyle purchases (such as cars or boats), depreciation can occur. But we’ll never oversell or overpromise. Instead, we’ll explore all potential scenarios with you, ensuring you have a full picture before making any decisions.
We also know that life changes, and we’re here to support you through it. You’ll never be left to navigate anything on your own. And if, down the line, you’d prefer to move to another park within our suite, we’ll do everything we can to make that happen, so you can keep enjoying the staycation lifestyle, wherever feels most like home.
Many of our team members have been with us for years – something we’re incredibly proud of. Meaning you’ll always be welcomed by a familiar and friendly face.
And our dedicated Park Managers are truly part of the communities they support. They’ll know your name, your dog’s name, and even how you take your tea! They’re always on hand to share local knowledge, extend our family ethos, and help you to create memories to treasure.
We’ve built a culture where our team feels genuinely valued, and that care naturally extends to the way we look after our owners too.
But don’t just take our word for it, here’s some recent testimonials from our visitors:
“We’re very proud to be part of the holiday homeowners here at Lucksall. It really is like being welcomed by an extended family here on site” – Andrew
“We have stayed before and will return again as the staff are all very helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble, service with a smile” – Bren
“The staff are the friendliest and most helpful we’ve ever met” – Alaina
We welcome it.
We believe any regulation that protects people and ensures transparency is a good thing – and frankly, long overdue. While we’ve always held ourselves to a higher standard, we know not everyone has, and we fully support efforts to bring consistency, fairness, and accountability to the wider industry.
Because we’re not. We’re a small, passionate, and family-run business with values that have stood the test of time.
Each of our five parks across the UK have been hand-selected for its natural beauty, tranquillity, and potential to build close-knit communities.
And we never do commercial sprawl or pushy sales. What we do offer instead is somewhere to belong: a genuine home-from-home where memories are made and families return, time and again.
And if you’re still not sure, pop down and see us. We’d gladly show you around, grab a coffee, and chat through any questions or queries you might have!
We don’t claim to be perfect, but we are honest, passionate, and genuine. And in a time when the industry needs to rebuild trust, we’re more committed than ever to doing things the right way. The Williams Leisure way.
If you’ve got any questions, concerns, or just want to chat, our team is always here to listen. No jargon. No pressure. Just real people who really care.
